It's amazing how just one remark that someone makes can really blow your confidence out of the water!
I've had two instances in the past week that I've had to do repair jobs on. One with a friend who was about to drop a project she'd been working incredibly hard on for some months. She was doing brilliantly. Someone who had not been around for most of the project had come back and not understood what was happening. Unfortunately he was not particularly diplomatic when seeking clarification and she took it as a dig at her. It knocked her confidence for six and she was actually going to quit. I've managed to get her to see what a fantastic job she has been doing and she's now staying but it was a big worry!
The other was a company whose owner had really lambasted his top team. I'd done some work with them in the past and had their confidence soaring but I had to go in and build it all back up again. At least it gives me something to do!
Think about what you say before you say it. It really does make such a difference to the other person!
